Valentine Summerfield was the son of Jonah Summerfield II. According to Christine Summerfield, he was the first in a "long tradition of Summerfields with stupid names".

He was born in 1970. Christine Summerfield suspected that he was named after the main character of the 1960s novel Stranger in a Strange Land.

In 1990, Valentine had a son he named Benedict.

Records of Valentine were kept well into the 26th century. Christine Summerfield learned about Valentine when she read the Summerfield family tree. (PROSE: Dead Romance)
