In the Daft Dimension, Televisual Comic ran a Doctor Who comic strip in which the First Doctor travelled with his two grandchildren, an aspect that deviated from the show on which it was based. (COMIC: The Secret History of Life Before Doctor Who Magazine!)

Behind the scenes

As the Televisual Comic strip is a clear spoof on the strip that ran in the real world TV Comic, the implication would be that these two grandchildren are intended to be versions of John and Gillian Who, although the grandchildren in this comic bear very little resemblance to the pair.
