In 2008, there was a branch of Wawa located in Philadelphia. Brittany Mordley considered it to be the "world's best convenience store" and a "local staple".

In 2008, Brittany Mordley entered the Wawa after taking Cyberon and being partially converted; she slipped on an Eagles hoodie, and the cashier did object to her doing so without paying, but she told him that she would pay. She noticed that "Disturbia" was playing on the radio which she thought was "comically fitting". She gathered an armful of pre-made meals, and purchased all the items, with a power given to her by the Cyberon, enabling her to simply touch the card reader to send a shock into it, which the device accepted.
