"Alfredo" was the name given to an Earthling pig the Fourteenth Doctor met on a Sycorax spaceship. Alfredo aided the Doctor in defeating the Queen of the Sycorax and subsequently joined him aboard the TARDIS as they embraced "second chances".
Biography
Alfredo was transported from Earth to a Sycorax spaceship during Christmastime, and was mistaken for a dangerous creature by the captive Vega Raptons, who tied him to a stalagmite in fear he would harm them. Alfredo was soon rescued when the Fourteenth Doctor arrived and assured the Vega Raptons that he was not dangerous. When the Doctor asked the group for help, Alfredo was the only one to eagerly volunteer, and received his name from the Doctor, who believed it was "probably a good name for a pig". They then set off together to discover why Vega Raptons, Stromboks and humans were being held captive on the ship, but Alfredo quickly wandered off and became separated from the Doctor. (PROSE: Under Control [+]Loading...["Under Control (short story)"]) He later caught up with him in time to find him engaged in a duel with the Queen of the Sycorax. When the Queen gained the upper hand against the Doctor, Alfredo knocked her into a pool of Sarnsquids, and retreated with a teleportation. After making sure the captives could commandeer the ship, Alfredo and the Doctor departed the Sycorax spaceship together. (COMIC: Into Control [+]Loading...["Into Control (comic story)"])
Personality
Despite being ill-treated by the Vega Raptons, Alfredo was still willing to help save them from the Sycorax, and was in fact the only one to volunteer to aid the Doctor, which he punctuated with a "plucky" squeal. Alfredo was shown to be inquisitive, quickly wandering off to investigate the Sycorax spaceship. He was fond of humans, quickly seeking affection from a group he discovered aboard the spaceship. (PROSE: Under Control [+]Loading...["Under Control (short story)"]) He also enjoyed being petted by the Doctor. (COMIC: Into Control [+]Loading...["Into Control (comic story)"])
Appearance
Alfredo was small in stature and appeared skinny, bony and sad looking when first encountered by the Doctor due to his meagre weight as a result of his bad treatment by the Vega Raptons, who feared him and described him as an "armoured beast". He had bristles which the Vega Raptons believed were tipped with poison, and tusks that they thought could tear flesh. However in reality he was harmless. (PROSE: Under Control [+]Loading...["Under Control (short story)"]) His skin was pink in colour and he had a curly tail and he was strong enough to knock the Queen of the Sycorax off her feet.
