The Alcázar was the royal palace in Seville, from which King Philip II ruled in 1572. Its gates were more like those of a fortress than a palace.
Posed as a cardinal of Rome, the First Doctor visited to palace, where he met the king and attempted to negotiate the release of Ian Chesterton from the hands of the Spanish Inquisition. (AUDIO: The Flames of Cadiz)
