Reprogramme was a Doctor Who Adventures comic strip published in 2013.
Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
The Doctor takes Clara to the planet Gohbel for a meal treat only to find the planet being stripped of its food crops by an army of Cyborgs.
Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]
The Doctor takes Clara to an alien planet for a meal cooked by the Gohbels, a race with a long standing reputation for preparing the best meals. But shortly after landing they find an army of cyborg robots are working their way across the fields hovering up all the crops like an army of locusts.
Making his way to the King the Doctor learns that the cyborgs arrived only two days before in their big spaceships and began stealing the whole planet's food leaving the planet starving. The Doctor believes the cyborgs must be really hungry and is impressed by the invaders co-ordination (of the invasion itself the speed with which the planets food resources are being stripped).
Without any verbal communication the Doctor believes the communication must be down to the goggles they are all wearing. On request the King takes the Doctor to the planets broadcasting tower where the Doctor is able to pick up the information being received by the invaders — TV! The cyborgs have become addicted to the soap opera they are all watching and have forgotten how to grow their own food. The Doctor interrupts the programme broadcast and pursuades them to take off their goggles and experience the real world. Once they realise how bright and realistic the world around them is they throw away their goggless and begin to live with the Gohbels suddenly having a lot more guests to feed not as invaders but as guests.
