Publisher's summary
The Time War. The Doctor has been injured and brought to a Time Lord field hospital His body glows with energy, but this is no regeneration into a future form – instead, the Doctor’s past faces begin to appear as he flits haphazardly between incarnations…
Staggering to his TARDIS, the Doctor sets out to solve the mystery of his ‘degeneration’. Who has done this to him? How? And why? From the Earth to the stars, across an array of familiar times and places, he follows clues to retrace his steps, encountering old friends and enemies along the way. Tumbling through his lives, the Doctor must stop his degeneration before he loses himself completely...
Back on Earth, the Doctor finds a clue in the search for the origins of the degeneration weapon. In his Sixth body, he meets Jackie Tyler and Lady Christina de Souza – thrown together by fate, or something more? – in pursuit of a powerful item of jewellery.
Meanwhile, a Time Lord renegade has duped Harry Sullivan into helping him stop the Doctor’s travels before they begin – and all are set on a collision course.

- Jackie and Christina are united by Melody, a woman Jackie once met at bingo.
- Christina's father, Alfred de Souza, was a doll collector.
- Jackie notes that the Doctor would sonic his way out of problems.

- The Two attended the Academy.
Notes
- Two's Company was recorded on 28 April 2021 at the Soundhouse and remotely.
- Despite the present date being given as 2006, which would set Two's Company during Doctor Who's first series for Jackie, she asks the Doctor how many bodies he has as if she is aware of regeneration, which she learnt about in TV: The Christmas Invasion, which took place on Christmas 2006, thus meaning Jackie should be living in 2007. However, such instances of confusing continuity are not isolated to Two's Company.
- This is the first story to suggest in dialogue that the Doctor's clothing is regenerating alongside his body throughout the crisis, with the Sixth Doctor noting with surprise that he is his wearing his patchwork coat following his degeneration. The Martian Invasion of Planetoid 50 would further imply this idea with the degenerated Tenth Doctor observing his clothes having changed to a suit, alongside his sonic screwdriver having upgraded to his incarnation's model.
- Jackie says that Lady Christina “needs a mum”. Michelle Ryan’s character in EastEnders had a storyline related to not knowing her mum.
Continuity
- When the Doctor degenerates from his Third into his Sixth incarnation, Harry exclaims: "You should've turned into my Doctor, except... not here! Not now!" (TV: Planet of the Spiders)

- Jackie is aware that Rose can get a phone signal in the Doctor's TARDIS. (TV: The End of the World)
- The Doctor refers to himself as one of the good Time Lords. (TV: The Night of the Doctor)
- Harry is aware that not all of the Doctor's companions have survived travelling with him. (TV: The Daleks' Master Plan, Earthshock)
- UNIT has been collecting information on the Time War. They believed that all of the Time Lords had died. (TV: Rose, Dalek, The Parting of the Ways, The Day of the Doctor, etc.)
- The Doctor once again refers to Harry as an imbecile. (TV: Revenge of the Cybermen)

- Jackie is familiar with regeneration. (TV: The Christmas Invasion)
