Sherlock Holmes was a male human detective of 19th century England. His adventures were written by John Watson and edited by Arthur Conan Doyle.

On both occasions of their meeting (and various side references to said meetings) it is suggested that Sherlock Holmes and John Watson are not in fact their names. In fact, the accounts of their encounters with Bernice Summerfield and Ace are only accounted by Bernice herself and Jon Watson, both of whom write diaries of said events.
