Coda is a Radio Times comic story featuring the Eighth Doctor, Stacy Townsend and Ssard.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Eighth Doctor discovers that Stacy Townsend has been replaced by a renegade shape shifter. The Doctor traps the four shape shifters in a sonic bubble and returns them to their home planet.

Characters[[edit] | [edit source]]

Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • The Doctor traps the shapeshifters in a sonic bubble while he takes them back to their planet.
  • The aliens plan to return to conquer Earth, but the Doctor believes their fellows back home will see this attempt as a failure and not bother.

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Writer Gary Russell's planned storyline involving the shape shifters was derailed by the cancellation of the comic feature in Radio Times. Therefore, he had to wrap up the plot quickly, in an abrupt and perfunctory manner, turning it into a coda-like story, hence the name.
  • The villains were originally to be revealed to be the Zygons in a story called Deceptions. With the cancellation of the strip, they were changed to generic shape-shifters.

Continuity[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • The Doctor tells Stacy and Ssard "[they]'ve got work to do." (TV: Survival)
