The P.R.O.B.E. Archive was the "cramped" basement of P.R.O.B.E. HQ. Agamya Akhtar's office was located in the Archive.
There also seemed to exist a P.R.O.B.E. Archive when P.R.O.B.E. was still located in Ashley House. (PROSE: The Last Dose [+]Loading...["The Last Dose (short story)"])
Appearance[[edit] | [edit source]]
The P.R.O.B.E. Archive was the cramped basement of P.R.O.B.E. HQ. It was accessible from a corridor, lit by "dim, fluorescent lighting", which connected to a lift. It contained case files and catalogued alien tech. When Giles was interviewed there, some of these were moved out the way so a small table and two chairs could be placed within. (PROSE: A Worthy Successor [+]Loading...["A Worthy Successor (short story)"]) There were other rooms connected to the corridor.[source needed]
History[[edit] | [edit source]]
More information from Preternatural Days, and all information from The 262 and The Last Few Pages, needs to be added.
In around 1995, (HOMEVID: The Zero Imperative [+]Loading...["The Zero Imperative (home video)"]) when P.R.O.B.E. was located in Ashley House, Louise Bayliss had read about a similar species to the Cyberons who had attempted invaded Earth several times in the P.R.O.B.E. Archive. (PROSE: The Last Dose [+]Loading...["The Last Dose (short story)"])
In June 2014, the incumbent Director interviewed Giles, wanting to make an airtight case to have him appointed as P.R.O.B.E. director over someone chosen by the Defence Secretary who'd choose someone to shut P.R.O.B.E. down. A "few months" after the Stacey Facade debacle (AUDIO: Broken Bonds [+]Loading...["Broken Bonds (audio story)"]) which occurred in early February 2019, (WC: Stacey Facade [+]Loading...["Stacey Facade (webcast)"]) Agamya Akhtar went to the Archives to avoid the rest of the team's company when she disapproved of their handling of a captured terrorist but lost hope of getting them to see things her way. (AUDIO: Broken Bonds [+]Loading...["Broken Bonds (audio story)"])
Returning to P.R.O.B.E. HQ from a fruitless two-day mission to Bedfordshire on 25 November 2020, Giles and the other teammembers ultimately had Agamya filed the cursed DVD which had caused the tech blackout at HQ in the Archive, with no further clues as to its origins. (WC: Doctor X [+]Loading...["Doctor X (webcast)"])
Shortly after sighting several Shadow People at the London Palladium on 9 May 2021, an increasingly unsettled Giles had Agamya search the P.R.O.B.E. Archive for any records Liz might have left behind regarding the entities. However, she found nothing. (WC: Shadow People [+]Loading...["Shadow People (webcast)"])
In June 2019, after the J.D.S. transferred custody of Varunastra to P.R.O.B.E., they became aware of the danger the unpredictable, mythological weapon presented it. Maxie Masters created a bespoke container for Varunastra, meant to stabilise it, and it was installed in the Archive, with an attached screen which would play Giles's case file about the weapon if any attempt was made to open it, so that no one could ever unleash Varunastra without knowing of its deadly potential. Even then, Giles was unsure that the stabilising device would work, and Agamya had misgivings about leaving the weapon in the Archive. (WC: Varunastra [+]Loading...["Varunastra (webcast)"])
On his first day as a member of P.R.O.B.E., Azacca Dixon was shown the door to the Archive by Giles as he gave him a tour of HQ. (PROSE: Preternatural Days [+]Loading...["Preternatural Days (short story)"])
At the time of Perihelion's recurrence in 2019, the only information on the concept in the Archive was P.R.O.B.E.'s records of their encounter with Colin Dove years prior. (PROSE: Preternatural Nights [+]Loading...["Preternatural Nights (short story)"])
On 4 April 2021, when Maxie fell prey to a mysterious illness, Giles sent Agamya into the Archives to see if P.R.O.B.E. had any alien medicines in storage that could help her. However, she did not find anything of use. (HOMEVID: The Only Cure [+]Loading...["The Only Cure (home video)"])
On 8 May 2021, while doing more tidying-up of Giles and Archie's old disorderly filing in the Archive, Agamya stumbled upon a document which still bore the signature of Felix Mather. (HOMEVID: Ex-President [+]Loading...["Ex-President (home video)"])
Eventually, Giles and Agamya Akhtar launched into a full-on spring cleaning of the Archive, which Giles had been dreading. They ended up discovering a stash of previously-unknown diaries belonging to Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart. (HOMEVID: Legend [+]Loading...["Legend (home video)"])
In 2892, when the Cyberons attacked Earth, Lauren Anderson hurried to the P.R.O.B.E. Archive, using the old passcode. She called out for Box only to realise that the entire Archive was now a data-centre housing the data-banks making up the expanded Box. Five hours later, it was destroyed, along with Box herself and the whole of London, by the Cyberons' bombing. (COMIC: Before the Storm [+]Loading...["Before the Storm (comic story)"])
