The Water World was a Doctor Who Adventures comic story featuring the Eleventh Doctor and Decky Flamboon.
Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
A malfunctioning water molecule shield on a barren world threatens the survival of one of the most hunted species in the universe.
Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]
Against the Eleventh Doctor's express command, Decky Flamboon presses a control on the console while trying to be helpful. This sends the TARDIS hurtling through space to "crash" on the planet Hydrocallica. Apart from arriving upside down there appears to be no other side effects. The planet they have arrived on is covered in water — but water that you can walk on, like one big massive bouncy waterbed. As Decky and the Doctor bounce along the planet, Decky suddenly falls through the water, landing inside the planet. The Doctor joins him, and they find themselves scaring flying birds that the Doctor recognises as Strigidae that are believed to be extinct. The Doctor reassures the Strigidae that they mean them no harm, and their leader, Lord Strige, explains that they were once the most hunted race in the universe but now hides away beneath a water molecule shield on the planet. However, their world is threatened by the shield breaking down. The Doctor fixes it with his sonic screwdriver, protecting them for a few more centuries at least. As a thank you, the Strigidae give the Doctor and Decky a free ride back to the TARDIS.
