The Guns of Avalon was the main story published in Captain Britain and MI13 from issue 1 to issue 4. and cover dated July 2008. It was reprinted in The Mighty World of Marvel (2009) from issues 8 - 10.
The story is notable for featuring an appearance of Merlin the Wise from DWM's The Neutron Knights [+]Loading...["The Neutron Knights (comic story)"], as well as mention of the Higher Evolutionaries.

In an MI13 holding cell in Shoreditch John, one of the members of the Skrull Beatles, was held hostage. Grimsdale ordered John's execution but the soldiers disobeyed him, when he proceeded to carry out the execution himself he was killed by an unseen Pete Wisdom and upon his death revealed to be a Skrull himself. Pete, who had been hearing a voice inside his head, questioned whether the others had heard anything.
