Endgame was the first Eighth Doctor strip in Doctor Who Magazine. It also returned the character of Maxwell Edison, absent since the Fifth Doctor's DWM run, and linked him to the Eighth Doctor's new companion, Izzy Sinclair. Furthermore, the story depicted the first comic strip encounter between any incarnation of the Doctor and the Celestial Toymaker.

Summary

The Eighth Doctor lands in Stockbridge. He is quickly attacked by men who identify themselves as The Butcher, The Baker, and The Candlestick Maker. The Doctor is saved by Izzy Sinclair and Max Edison. The three of them soon discover that they are not in the real Stockbridge but in something the Doctor calls a "macro-dimensional pocket" created by the Celestial Toymaker, who is looking for "the Focus," a small round device in Izzy's possession.

After capturing Izzy and Max, the Doctor gives the Focus to the Toymaker, who reveals that the device is part of a mirror called the Imagineum, made long ago by alien alchemists. The Toymaker uses the Imagineum to make an evil duplicate of the Doctor. As the Doctor and his duplicate fight, the Doctor convinces the duplicate that the Toymaker is untrustworthy and ends their fight. The Doctor uses the Imagineum to to create a duplicate of the Toymaker. The Toymaker and his double fight, causing them both to disappear back into the Toymaker's home dimension. The Doctor breaks the Imagineum's mirror and frees the real Stockbridge.
