Blue Peter (in-universe)

Blue Peter is a popular BBC television program for children, airing since 1958.

In 1996, the Blue Peter garden was destroyed by a member (or members) of Faction Paradox. This caused a far more intense psychological reaction than any direct assault on the people's psyche. (EDA: Interference: Book Two)

Ace appeared to wear a Blue Peter badge on her costume.

In 2006, shortly after an alien ship crashed in the Thames, Blue Peter presenter Matt Baker did a feature on how to make an alien ship cake. (DW: Aliens of London)

In 2008, Maria Jackson watched an episode with Gethin Jones as the presenter, in which he and his co-host promoted the (alien) soft drink Bubble Shock. (SJA: Invasion of the Bane)

Behind the Scenes

In real life, Blue Peter has had a longtime association with Doctor Who, being used on many occasions to promote the series and upcoming episodes, monsters, and special events. The series has run a number of contests over the years, including on at least two occasions with the winners contributing creatively to the series itself (most recently, the Abzorbaloff from the 2006 episode Love and Monsters originated from a Blue Peter "design your own monster" competition.

Historically, the series has proven valuable for not only featuring contemporary interviews with actors and behind-the-scenes personnel from the series, but also providing glimpses into production history. Also, a 1973 installment of Blue Peter marking the 10th anniversary of Doctor Who included numerous excerpts from the William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton eras; due to the BBC's then-ongoing mandate of junking old episodes, these clips are in many cases the last surviving remnants of these episodes -- including key moments such as Hartnell's regeneration to Troughton in The Tenth Planet and the death of Katarina in The Dalek's Master Plan.

For many years, the series also had another connection to the franchise in the form of co-host Peter Purves, who appeared on Blue Peter for many years after his tenure playing Steven Taylor during the Hartnell era.

When two Dalek props were stolen, Blue Peter ran an appeal to bring them back. They were returned within 24 hours of the appeal.
