Steve Bowman was the visual effects designer on the Doctor Who television stories Earthshock and The Greatest Show in the Galaxy.

His Doctor Who credits came at the earliest part of his career, which has included work on many of the most popular British shows since the 1980s, including Campion with Peter Davison and Brian Glover, Last of the Summer Wine, The Two Ronnies with Ronnie Corbett, The Tripods, Men Behaving Badly with Martin Clunes, and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and Grownups — both starring Sheridan Smith.

He won a 1998 Royal Television Society Craft Award for his work on The Human Body and was BAFTA-nominated, along with Mike Tucker, for 2004's The Brighton Bomb.
