Manisha Purkayastha was a friend of Ace. Because she was from Pakistan, her house was firebombed by Neo-Nazis (PROSE: Illegal Alien) in 1983, wounding her. Enraged by this, Ace burned down Gabriel Chase. (TV: Ghost Light)
Accounts differed as to whether she "nearly" (PROSE: Timewyrm: Apocalypse) or actually did (PROSE: Blood Heat, The Dimension Riders, Illegal Alien) die.
Alternate timelines
On an alternate Earth, a version of Manisha existed who lived because her house had never been attacked. However, Ace had been killed and that Manisha had watched her die. (PROSE: Blood Heat)
