Essie was the only daughter of Alys and Tomas.
Essie was conceived accidentally, but the day she was born, Alys fell in love with her. She was an inquisitive child and questioned why her father didn't accompany them on their voyage from France to Britain. She was annoyed that her mother wanted her to learn and speak in English instead of French and she was infatuated with the idea of drinking tea. (PROSE: The Triple Knife)
