The Oil Wars were a conflict on Earth some time before 2181. It took Earth over fifty years to recover from the conflict. Fuels were so scarce that deforestation was a problem. Nations imposed penalties on any unauthorised killing of trees. Dusan was sentenced to death by defenestration for cutting down a tree in Prague. (PROSE: Suspension and Disbelief)
