First announcement of the character
The character's full name was announced by the BBC on 20th July 2009, despite several media outlets already having given her name as Amy ahead of time, though not her surname.
Practical joke
Prior to this announcement, there were reports circulating that the character of Amy Pond would be an alien and that the actress would be covered in prosthetic makeup. In fact, this was simply a joke blog entry posted by the Doctor Who Information Network, based in Canada [2]
Costume
- Though all filming pictures show her in a red hoodie and blue trainers, the first picture of Gillan in costume featured the colours reversed: a blue hoodie and red shoes. It is unknown if this is a costume variant that will be used in the show or not.
