The Time Lord Victorious series was a multi-platform story released between September 2020 and January 2021. The series featured the Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Doctors, as well as Rose Tyler, the Ood and the Daleks.

Overview

The story was first teased online by Big Finish Productions and Doctor Who social media on 26 April 2020,[1][2] with first details of the storyline being announced on the following day.

Big Finish's news announced that "Time Lord Victorious will tell a new and untold story, set in the Dark Times near the start of the universe, when even the Eternals were young. Following several Doctors across space and time as they defend their home planet from a terrible race, this is a story like no other."[3]

Stories

Various stories were released, across media, by Penguin Random House, Doctor Who Magazine, Titan Comics, Escape Hunt, Big Finish Productions, Eaglemoss Hero Collector, Immersive Everywhere, Maze Theory, BBC Books and BBC Audio.[3]

Immersive Experiences

  • Doctor Who: Time Fracture - A 90 minute immersive event put on by Immersive Everywhere premiering in central London in Autumn 2020.[4][5][6]

Video Games

  • Unnamed Console Game - Developed for PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Switch by Maze Theory.[7]
  • Unnamed Mobile Game - a "horror/sci-fi mobile phone takeover game" being developed by Maze Theory and Kaigan Games.[7] The wording on this isn't exactly clear, but given the studio involved, it seems to be similar in concept to Kaigan Games' previous work, but with a Doctor Who theme, an app that depicts you finding a phone and leading you through a horror narrative using the apps on the phone you found.[8]

Notes

  • James Goss, producer of Time Lord Victorious, reassured users on Twitter that all the stories would be available globally (with the exception of the escape room and the immersive theatre[9]) and that the story was "inclusive", so that even if someone hadn't purchased some of the releases, they could have still got a "completed story".[10]
  • The title of this series comes from the Tenth Doctor in TV: The Waters of Mars, who briefly believes that rather than being a survivor of the Time War, he is the winner: the Time Lord Victorious.
