A way-station in Kan-Chow was one of many such way-stations positioned along the Old Silk Road, owing their allegiance to Kublai Khan.

In 1289, the First Doctor, Susan, Barbara, and Ian stayed at the way-station while travelling with Marco Polo's caravan to Shang-Tu. (PROSE: Marco Polo)
