Professor Blavatsky was a archaeologist and a secret follower of the Corvus. She knew it was on the wreck of the colony ship the World and went there, with the intention of releasing it. However, she was killed by corpses re-animated by the Corvus as she wasn't useful to its plans. (AUDIO: The Wreck of the World)
