The Warehouse was a highly-classified UNIT storage facility and research establishment. It was partially underground. It was surrounded by a 50 mile radius of farmland, (HOMEVID: Auton) while also being "just near" London (HOMEVID: Dæmos Rising) and Millhampton. (HOMEVID: Auton 3: Awakening)

History

Douglas Cavendish visited the facility (HOMEVID: Dæmos Rising) in 1995 after recovering from the Great Intelligence's influence, (HOMEVID: Downtime) and later recalled seeing "crates of shop dummies" and "a vault with floor-to-ceiling bell jars and containers with tentacles, bits of flesh, embryos, and other strange alien figures preserved in formaldehyde." As a "retirement fund", he stole several items from the collection, including a Dæmon-summoning book, preserved giant maggot, Auton head, troll doll, CyberNeomorph chestplate, Dalek gunstick, and a jar of jelly babies. (HOMEVID: Dæmos Rising) However, a later account indicates Cavendish stole from the Black Archive. (PROSE: Dæmos Rising)

In 1996, Sally Arnold worked there as a scientific researcher, with Janice as her assistant and Graham Winslet as storehouse archivist. (HOMEVID: Auton)

Behind the scenes

The film Auton was originally planned as a sequel to Downtime. (REF: Downtime – The Lost Years of Doctor Who) The later film Dæmos Rising indicates that a conversation in Downtime between Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart and Douglas Cavendish about keeping alien souvenirs was written as foreshadowing for the Warehouse setting of Auton.
