Sesterce

The sesterce was a currency used in the Roman Empire.

In Rome in July 64, Barbara Wright was auctioned as a slave. After a few negligible offers, the highest reaching 2,500 sesterces, Tavius bid 10,000 sesterces, successfully buying her. (TV: "All Roads Lead to Rome")

On 23 August 79, a stallholder in Pompeii sold the Doctor's TARDIS to Lobus Caecilius for fifteen sesterces. (TV: The Fires of Pompeii)

Searching through the pocket of the Ninth Doctor's leather jacket, Rose Tyler found a couple of sesterces. (PROSE: Winner Takes All)

On an alternate Earth, there were "some big sesterces" riding on the Ectoslime in the Hyp-Arena fights according to Maximus Bilious. (COMIC: Doctor Who and the Iron Legion)
