Broken generation
A "broken generation" of members of the Great Houses, considered the original Renegades by later history, was created on the Homeworld by impurities in the breeding-engines over a thousand years before the War in Heaven.
History
Manifesting roughly 1200 years before the War in Heaven, (PROSE: The Book of the War) the mutations particularly affected House Lungbarrow and House Dvora. Their causes remained "vague" but could be attributed to "impurities in the looming system", (PROSE: Crimes Against History) namely the errant biodata of the Other. Glospin of House Lungbarrow believed that the Other's contagion had driven his entire Family "mad", and that the Doctor himself was the full reincarnation of the Other. (PROSE: Lungbarrow) Also born of this broken generation to House Lungbarrow was Grandfather Paradox, (PROSE: Crimes Against History) also known as the "voodoo priest" of House Lungbarrow. (PROSE: Christmas on a Rational Planet) After admitting that he was not actually an ancient Mapper to Roland, Auteur briefly entertained the thought that he was "l'Autre" then corrected that he was simply "a bit of him". However, the phenomenon also affected other Houses, particularly House Dvora, (PROSE: Crimes Against History, The Book of the War) producing the Imperator and the War King. (PROSE: The Book of the War, Crimes Against History) They were considered by later generations to be the original renegades. (PROSE: Crimes Against History) Morbius, whose life story (TV: The Brain of Morbius) matched The Book of the War's account of the Imperator, (PROSE: The Book of the War) was sometimes known as "the First Renegade". The Master, the Rani, the Monk and Drax, all of whom became Renegades in their later lives, were the same age as the Doctor and attended the Academy with them. By one account, they were a part of a group of ten like-minded Time Lords who called themselves the Deca, (PROSE: The Quantum Archangel) which also included Vansell, Rallon, Jelpax, Millennia, and Magnus.
