Paisley was a design involving tear themed symbols, invented on ancient Persia and named after a Scottish town.[source needed]

The Seventh Doctor wore scarves and ties as well as bands on his cream Panama hat of paisley, done on scarlet (TV: Time and the Rani-The Greatest Show in the Galaxy) or burgundy. (TV: Battlefield-Survival) He also wore a paisley banded white fedora (PROSE: White Darkness) that he had had made especially for him. (PROSE: First Frontier)

The Eighth Doctor wore some double breasted waistcoats of paisley-brocade with a gold fob watch; one in silver grey, (TV: Doctor Who) one in violet purple, (COMIC: Dreadnought) one in cream, (COMIC: Ophidius) one in ochre yellow, (AUDIO: The Stones of Venice) one in bracken green, (AUDIO: Caerdroia) and one in burnt orange. (AUDIO: The Devouring), Soon, he wore single-breasted waistcoats of paisley-brocade done in wine purple, (AUDIO: He Kills Me, He Kills Me Not,) plain vermillion, (AUDIO: Meanwhile, Elsewhere-Previously, Next Time) or bronze brown.
