Time in Reverse was a TV Comic story featuring Dr. Who, John and Gillian.

Summary

The First Doctor, John and Gillian arrive on present-day Earth in the middle of a sea. After making it back to the mainland, they realise that time is running backwards and they have arrived at the end of their adventure. The only way for the travellers to be reunited with the TARDIS is to retrace events of which they have no knowledge that will lead them to the story's beginning.

Notes

  • This story is told in reverse. The same non-linear narrative would later be employed in the comic story Room with a Deja View.
  • The year is not given, but the text of parts one and three state that it is the present day of 1965.
  • If the story is read in reverse, i.e. starting from the final panel of Issue 715 and working backwards, ending with the first panel of Issue 713, it will be found that the underlying events of the plot (about which the Doctor and his grandchildren know nothing) are actually very simple.
  • On the second page of Part 3, two speech balloons for the Doctor have been inadvertently transposed. In frame one, the Doctor says "Good! Standby whilst I switch on the controls!" (original published text) in reply to John saying "I suppose they thought we were spying on their rockets!"; and in frame seven says "H'm! I'm more interested in spying on the TARDIS!" (original published text) after John says "The door is closed, Grandfather!"
