Infobox image

So I wanted to make the case for why the current image that we use for Bill (File:Bill_says_goodbye_to_Heather.jpg) is the best one that we have, or may ever have.

  1. It's facing left, looking at the article.
  2. It's rather bright, and it's easy to make out Bill's face.
  3. The lighting is natural looking and not tinted a certain odd-way. Her face isn't red, or yellow and so on and so forth.
  4. There's not a lot of distractions in the backdrop, indeed no one could interpret the focus to be on anything but her.
  5. The image shows a lot of the curiosity that she exports as a character.
  6. The moment is an important step in her character development. One could argue that this is where she decides that she wants to travel, eventually with the Doctor.
  7. It's currently the most important story that she had been in as of yet for her development. Thus it is an illustration of her current most-important arc.

So I certainly vote for us to keep this one unless a better episode from a new image comes up. OS25 (Talk) 20:37, April 24, 2017 (UTC)

Better Image

Bill waits for the doctor.jpg

I think this image would be way more better than the current one. Here are my reasons:

1. You can clearly recognize her and there are no back round distractions. 2. Looks very natural 3. It shows her character as happy and curious 4. It shows her waiting for the Doctor, which is the most important decision she makes because it leads to her travelling with him 5. It shows her as a normal person, not on an adventure

So, I think this is the best image. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Quicksilver999 (talk • contribs) .

I'd have to disagree, it is darker than the current image and is looking away from the article. Plus, neutral expressions are usually better for images. Snivystorm 14:30, May 21, 2017 (UTC)

Better Image

I think this is a better image for Bill than the current one.

1. It's a better and more natural picture of Bill.

2. It shows her character as happy. And she is smiling.

3. It shows her in the TARDIS properly for the first time, about to go on her first adventure.

4. She's wearing the outfit she wears for her promotional photo shoot pictures for Series 10. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dominicpond (talk • contribs) .

This article needs a better and more natural image. The current one is just not good enough to be honest. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dominicpond (talk • contribs) .

Life as a glass person

Though the Doctor seems in denial about it, I don't think Glass-Bill's section should be called "Legacy"; there's a very sound philosophical argument that she was, for all intents and purposes, a resurrected Bill, albeit as a new species (namely a Glass Avatar), not just a legacy of a truly deceased Bill. Perhaps we might rename the section "As a Glass Avatar"? --Scrooge MacDuck 18:23, May 30, 2018 (UTC)

Infobox image discussion

Now that Bill has left the series, I think it's time to have a discussion about the infobox image. From previous discussions, it appears that a number of users agree that the current image might not be the best. For me, the focus is just not tight enough and I'm sure there should be an abundance of other possible images from throughout series 10. Before adding images, please see Tardis:Guide to images which explains as to what constitutes a good image.

Below, I've added close-up images of Bill which are currently available on the wiki. Some of these are better than others, but I want to get an idea of the images we have available before voting which are best. Feel free to add further images below. 66 Seconds 10:43, October 14, 2018 (UTC)

I'd eliminate #2 and #6 — they obscure Bill's trademark hair, which I don't think is something you'd want to do on the main page. #3 is facing the wrong way. And this may just be me, but #8's expression seems one of "dull, somewhat slow-witted surprise", which isn't very indicative of Bill's general character. That leaves #4,#5 and #7, with #7 at a disadvantage because of the hand-gesture.
My personal favorite would be #5.
Hope this helped! --Scrooge MacDuck 10:47, October 14, 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, the only acceptable one, besides the current image, is #5 but even that is a tad dark. Time to get looking through Series 10 for some decent closeups. Snivy The coolest Pokemon ever 11:50, October 14, 2018 (UTC)

Several of these images fail Tardis:Guide to images "tight cropping" guidelines; the only ones that are acceptable are 2, 5, 6, 8. Please do not post any more choices that aren't closely cropped; it wastes a lot of time if users post their approval of images that can't be considered. Thanks, Shambala108 14:22, October 14, 2018 (UTC)

  1. 9 is the best out of these. In short, it pops the most and is the best cropped. I would encourage the search to go on, however. OS25🤙☎️ 07:06, October 22, 2018 (UTC)
@Ottsel: Hm… maybe, but I don't think the expression is quite right. This sort of grim, downer look doesn't really give a fair idea of Bill's personnality. --Scrooge MacDuck 08:32, October 22, 2018 (UTC)
Hmmmm... Doesn't fit the Bill, you say? (Sorry, never could resists a good pun.) Amorkuz 08:47, October 22, 2018 (UTC)
…Dang! Should have thought of that one. --Scrooge MacDuck 08:51, October 22, 2018 (UTC)

Out of the images shown above, I think my favourites are #9, #14 and #11. While #14 may not be the brightest image, for me it really shows Bill's mannerisms in a way which the other images here don't. 66 Seconds 22:03, October 25, 2018 (UTC)

So far, I like #5, #13 and #20 the most - all well cropped and lit and face the article. Snivy The coolest Pokemon ever 22:05, October 25, 2018 (UTC)

I have removed all the choices that fail our guidelines for infobox images at Tardis:Guide to images. Any images added to the current gallery must follow our guidelines, or they too will be deleted. We will not consider any image that isn't cropped the way we prefer for infobox images. Shambala108 02:47, December 11, 2018 (UTC)

I think pretty much any of these is better than the current one, which clearly doesn't follow the guidelines. -- Saxon (✉️) 01:14, October 11, 2019 (UTC)

I've added an infobox image for now that fits our guidelines. This is a temporary image until we can reach some kind of community agreement. No one is to change the image I put there until there is a decision reached here. Shambala108 01:22, October 11, 2019 (UTC)

If this discussion is still open, then my vote goes to #13. WaltK 17:50, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
No admin has closed it, so still open. Shambala108 18:06, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
On second thought, I think #12 is better. It's a more accurate representation of what she usually looks like, plus it's natural and "neutral". WaltK 17:36, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
10 and 12 are my preferences. They both have good lighting and show Bill's signature hairstyle. LauraBatham 01:49, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

You know what, this discussion has basically been stalled for almost three years. I'm going to go with User:WaltK and User:LauraBatham's mutual choice of #12. Discussion closed, and now we can move on to the next one if necessary. Shambala108 01:58, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

CyberMondan?

The terminology doesn't make sense to me. CyberMondan implies a converted Mondasian; Bill isn't Mondasian. WaltK 23:42, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

She's a Cyberman of Mondasian make — "CyberMondan" is the name for that specific design of Cyber-suit, not a species per se. Besides, World Enough/The Doctor Falls are very much written under the assumption that Mondasians are biologically indistinguishable from Earthlings — that both populations are "humans". (The Master refers to these primitive Cybermen being programmed to "home in on human life signs only", Nardole warns Hazran that he "isn't human" in a way that obviously presupposes that she identifies as such.) Nor could "Mondasian" be said to be an ethnicity since there are people of every colour on the colony ship, or to refer specifically to people born on Mondas sicne all the colony-ship-people count. By that yardstick, even the unconverted Bill may well count as a "Mondasian" in the remaining cultural sense, what with having spent ten years living in a Mondasian city; she's an immigrant of sorts.
Ultimately though, it comes back to the simpl fact that the Doctor himself looked at her and dramatically said "a Cyberman… a Mondasian Cyberman". We aren't going to argue. And note that he just says it on sight, he doesn't stop to ask if the person in there is genetically Mondasian, whatever that means. A Cyberman that looks like that just is a "Mondasian Cyberman" in the same way that a Scots Terrier is a Scots Terrier whether or not it was bred in Scotland.
