A broadsword was a weapon used in the Middle Ages on Earth.

In 1138, the Twelfth Doctor once defeated a broadsword-wielding Bors in a duel with a daffodil. (TV: The Magician's Apprentice [+]Loading...["The Magician's Apprentice (TV story)"])

In his case file on Varunastra recorded in June 2019, P.R.O.B.E. director Giles referred to the ghostly Sir Bedevere's sword as a broadsword, having tried and failed to convince him to stop waving it about at P.R.O.B.E. HQ. (WC: Varunastra [+]Loading...["Varunastra (webcast)"]) Later accounts, however, referred to Bedevere's blade as a longsword.
