History

Around the time of her recruitment into International Rescue, (COMIC: The Vanishing Ray (part 8) [+]Loading...{"part":"8","1":"The Vanishing Ray (comic story)"}) Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward, one of TV Century 21's top reporters, agreed to edit a "new comic for girls", which would feature her own adventures, along with reports on "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "Beverly Hillbillies", and "Bewitched", along with a regular fashion page. This was reported on the cover of issue 51 of TV Century 21 on 9 January 2066. (PROSE: Time Barrier Busted [+]Loading...["Time Barrier Busted (short story)"])

Behind the scenes

A letter from Elly May, one of the "Beverly Hillbillies", referencing the in-universe magazine. (LP 1)

The "new comic for girls" and "own magazine" of Lady Penelope both evidently referred to Lady Penelope, a sister publication to TV Century 21 which emerged around the time the Lady Penelope comic in the main magazine was replaced by a Thunderbirds comic as its TV counterpart began.

Although not as consistently pointed out in the magazine, Lady Penelope also framed itself, to a degree, as an in-universe magazine, with some features such as the Your Post, M'Lady series featuring characters directly referring to the magazine, with the first issue even featuring letters from the stars of Thunderbirds, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Bewitched regarding the magazine's printing of stories featuring them.
