Raptor was an informal name for a specific family of dinosaurs. One specific type was the Velociraptor.

A species of raptors was transported on the Silurian Ark. When they were awoken in the 24th century, they attacked Solomon, badly injuring his leg. When the Eleventh Doctor and his team came to the Ark, they also harassed them. John Riddell and Amy Pond were able to stun them when they attacked. (TV: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship)
