• 7 - Arthur Conan Doyle dies.

October

• The mystery novel The Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie is first published. This novel introduces Christie's popular character Miss Marple. Although she has no recollection of her adventure with the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble in 1926, she unconsciously remembers idea of Miss Marple given to her by Donna. (DW: The Unicorn and the Wasp)
• The R101 begins its maiden journey, only to crash, killing all aboard. (BFA: Storm Warning)

November

• Due to the onset of the Great Depression, New York City's Central Park houses a "tent city" inhabited by the unemployed and homeless. Remnants of the Cult of Skaro, having escaped to this year from the Battle of Canary Wharf (DW: Doomsday) begin abducting people in hopes of creating a Dalek-human hybrid. Dalek Sec becomes just such a hybrid, until he is killed by his colleagues. (DW: Daleks in Manhattan / Evolution of the Daleks)

• The Doctor visits the planet Tigella, where he sees the Dodecahedron and befriends the planet's leader, Zastor. Zastor remembers the Doctor as one who "can see the strings that bind the Universe together, and mend them when they break. (DW: Meglos)
