The Lighthouse of Alexandria, more commonly known as the Pharos Lighthouse, was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, (COMIC: Minus Seven Wonders) in Alexandria. Barbara Wright was never as interested in wonders like the Lighthouse, instead being more concerned about the people. (PROSE: The Book of Shadows) The Fourth Doctor referred that slaves were employed to keep its bonfires going. (TV: Horror of Fang Rock)

Along with the other six Wonders, the Lighthouse was stolen by Pholonius Ginn, who intended on selling it to the highest bidder on G-Bay. The Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones arrived to see it just before its disappearance. It later returned by Trongus Squum, at the Doctor's request. (COMIC: Minus Seven Wonders)

The Pharos Project in 1981 was named after this structure, as Tegan Jovanka explained that "Pharos" was ancient Greek for "lighthouse." (TV: Logopolis)
