Charles Crichton was a career officer in the British Army and UNIT.

In his early days as an officer, he was friends with the fathers of Robert Dalton and Ross Brimmicombe-Wood, Will and Archie. Coincidentally, the sons would also become colonels in charge of UNIT.

As Colonel Crichton, took over operations of UNIT in the United Kingdom following Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart's retirement. (TV: The Five Doctors) Crichton became a Brigadier between UNIT's 1983 reunion and 1995, when he was called to assist in the defeat of the Great Intelligence. (PROSE: Downtime) He had a wife and two sons, but by 2002 they had been seperated for a while; he kept their photo despite this. (PROSE: Project: Valhalla)

After he departed from UNIT, he transferred to the Forge - which had a competing remit with his old employers - and was Deputy Director sometime before 2002. In 2004, Crichton retired and was assassinated by his successor, Nimrod. (PROSE: Project: Valhalla)

The Forge named their 2025 headquarters the Crichton Building. (AUDIO: Project Destiny)
