Hutchinson was a pupil at Hulton College in 1914. He was also a Captain, which was a title for boys with special responsibilities at the school. He participated in the attempted murder of Timothy Dean. Dean only survived because his body had been altered by exposure to the Seventh Doctor's biodata. After graduating, he became a soldier and achieved the rank of Lieutenant during World War I before he was killed in combat. (PROSE: Human Nature)
