General Frank Hobson was Jo Grant's uncle. He helped her get a job at UNIT.
In an alternate Earth, he entrusted part of the bood Computer Control Related Missile Launch Protocol Manual to Jo. It contained nuclear missile launch codes. He was going to use them to destroy the Silurians from a hidden submarine. His plan was delayed for twenty years since Jo had become feral from race memory malaise and she was not found until 1993. When he finally got the codes he took the submarine to carry out his plane, but died before he could fire the missiles. (PROSE: Blood Heat)
