Talk:Gallifrey (audio series)
From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
Shoudn't the new release be considered part of a rebranded series? Because this situation looks like the Bernice Summerfield series and Counter-Measures series: they ended, but released again under the "The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield" and "The New Counter-Measures". Shouldn't the "Gallifrey"series be considered as over and a new page created as "Gallifrey: Time War"? Wesley701 ☎ 16:48, February 22, 2018 (UTC)
- I have a really hard time thinking of Time War: Volume One (audio anthology) as the first set of a new series. For one, the production code for it is BFPGALLCD20, continuing Enemy Lines' BFPGALLCD19, rather than beginning a new format for the production codes. Also, Time War: Volume One is still marketed as part of the same series[1], while The New Counter-Measures was announced as a part of a brand new series[2].
- Also, on VOR 108, while discussing the release, we have this quote from Scott Handcock, producer and director: "After the previous release, Enemy Lines, I honestly thought that was it for me and Gallifrey. We’d sort of completed that journey for those characters and had always been flirting around the edges of the Time War without ever addressing it, so I struggled to see what we could do to feel fresh without tackling the Time War head-on. "Thankfully, David Richardson already had plans for the next stage of the Gallifrey saga to be exactly that, so I leapt at the chance!". Plus, they always refer to the series as Gallifrey, never Gallifrey: Time War, unless when talking about the anthology. OncomingStorm12th ☎ 17:05, February 22, 2018 (UTC)
- A couple of days ago I was sure that I had posted a long reply. And it was lost. Well, here is a shorter one. I'm gonna listen to the podcast tomorrow to see if there is more info. But the truth of the matter is: this is clearly a subseries judging by "Volume One" instead of "Gallifrey 9". Does it replace the original one completely, like The New Counter-Measures (audio series) or just temporarily like Aliens Among Us (audio series)? Unfortunately, we can never be sure it is the former. It is usually clear when it is the latter, but the publisher can always return to the original format. Thus, it seems that removing this from the Gallifrey series page completely is too much. But making a separate page for the subseries and providing more detailed information there with some minimum info and a link here should be fine. Having said it, it might not make sense to do it yet as all information on the new subseries can be found at Time War: Volume One at the moment. Amorkuz ☎ 23:04, February 24, 2018 (UTC)
