John Carson (28 February 1927-5 November 2016) played Ambril in the Doctor Who television story Snakedance.

Carson's other credits included roles on The Avengers, The Baron, Adam Adamant Lives!, The Saint, Paul Temple, Out of the Unknown and The New Avengers, as well as having regular roles as Anthony Brand in It's Dark Outside, Mr Dombey in Dombey and Son and James Langley in The Troubleshooters.
