Talk:Civil War
Name
What makes this the Civil War for the Doctor Who universe? Would it not be better to go with a conjectural title that's a bit more specific, or is this name prevalent enough and well-enough understood within texts that there could be no other candidate on the same level (like the High Council, even though the Raxacoricofallapatorians have their own)?

- The Legacy of Gallifrey definitely calls it "the Civil War", capitals and all. This is as distinct from the concept of a civil war, which, as you can see, already has its own page.
- So the question is simply, are there other conflicts in the DWU simply known as "the Civil War"? The Dalek Civil War and American Civil War are almost always called by those names; anything else? --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 21:14, July 16, 2020 (UTC)
- I suppose not. I was thinking along the lines of User:NateBumber's first argument at Talk:War in Heaven: of course those involved would call any one of these "the War" or "the Civil War". But if the Civil War is established as an historical name used by non-contemporaries, and there's no conflict with another, that should settle my objection.

The Legacy of Gallifrey is written as an extract from the Scrolls of Gallifrey which documented Gallifreyan history up to Flavia's presidency. As the war with Pandora occured later than that there would have been no need to disambiguate this civil war with any others. Although I'd say that even if "Civil War" is determined to be a good name in the DWU, it would still be helpful to readers attempting to find it to rename it. --Borisashton ☎ 21:38, July 16, 2020 (UTC)
