Intuitive Revelation
The Intuitive Revelation was a period of Gallifreyan history in which the Neo-Technologists led by Rassilon overthrew the mystical power of the Pythias, changing Gallifrey to be more scientific at the cost of Pythia's Curse. (PROSE: Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible) The pattern of the Pythias' defeat was seen by the Carnival Queen as part of a larger process enacted on the the entire universe by Rassilon's anchoring of the thread. (PROSE: Christmas on a Rational Planet) The Revelation ended the Time of Chaos / Dark Time, the final era of the Old Time which was so named due to the chaos and unrest on Gallifrey. (PROSE: Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible)
Before the Revelation, Gallifrey was a matriarchal society ruled by the Pythia through magic and superstition. Telepathy was used rather than speech and few individuals kept their own personality or secrets, meaning that the emergence of strong-willed individuals like Rassilon was notable. The Triumvirate decided it was better to promote reason and science. This led to the Intuitive Revelation, where they overthrew the Pythia, with Rassilon gaining the most influence in the aftermath. (PROSE: Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible)
During the Revelation, monks such as I.M. Foreman were driven from monasteries on Gallifrey, leading to Foreman leaving the planet with his Travelling Show. (PROSE: Interference - Book One, Interference - Book Two) The Time Lords' establishment of linear time was opposed by the Ravagers during the Founding Conflict, but they were eventually defeated by Gallifrey's specialist divison, which re-established the anchoring of time. (TV: Once, Upon Time)
In retribution for the Revelation, Rassilon's forces were cursed to be unable to bear children, leading to the invention of looms. The loom-born Gallifreyans would be unable to wield telepathy as their ancestors had. This created a timeless stagnancy in Time Lord culture, such that little changed in the following millions of years. (PROSE: Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible, Lungbarrow, The Infinity Doctors) This would be enforced by the later loom-born revolt, in which forces aligned with Rassilon once more violently purged Gallifrey of their enemies. (PROSE: Cold Fusion) Ultimately, the society into which the First Doctor was loomed had the same structure and institutions as the society which Rassilon established at the end of the Revelation. (PROSE: Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible, Lungbarrow, The Infinity Doctors)
When the Seventh Doctor returned to the House of Lungbarrow, Innocet told Chris Cwej that the Houses were believed to be the oldest living things on Gallifrey, the first ones having been grown during the Intuitive Revelation. (PROSE: Lungbarrow)
