Cyber-gun

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Cyber-guns or Cyberguns were weapons utilised by Cybermen from Mondas. (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Cybermen)

Design and evolution

The earliest Cyber-guns date back to when the Mondasian Cybermen invaded Snowcap Base. (TV: The Tenth Planet) The Telosian Cybermen that arrived on the Moonbase in 2070 had smaller and slimmer metal guns which could fit neatly into their big and bulky chest units. (TV: The Moonbase) The Telosian Cybermen would retain the same slim firearms slotted into their chest units. (TV: The Tomb of the Cybermen)

During the late 20th century Cybermen invasion, Cybermen of the "Early CyberFaction" used standard silver guns, about three feet long, designed for two hands. The guns produced a "negative effect", not unlike that made by many versions of the Daleks' gunsticks. (TV: The Invasion)

The Mondasian Cybermen landing force which invaded Snowcap base in 1986 had very different weapons, resembling large, cumbersome sun lamps held at their mid-sections. (TV: The Tenth Planet)

In 2526, a group of Neomorph Cybermen who captured Briggs' freighter, used a different, smaller weapon, easier to use with one hand. This produced a green, halo-shaped discharge. It could easily kill a Cyberman. (TV: Earthshock) The Neomorphs on the planet Telos, those who time travelled to the London sewers in 1985 (TV: Attack of the Cybermen) and another group who were transported to the Death Zone on Gallifrey, used the same guns. The latter took on a Raston Warrior Robot, but these guns had little to no effect on it. (TV: The Five Doctors)

Other information

On the Moon's surface in 2070, the Telosian Cybermen sometimes utilised their hand-held anti-personnel weapons, but did employ a cannon-sized X-ray laser, sometimes referred to as a Cyber-cannon. (TV: The Moonbase/PROSE: Doctor Who and the Cybermen)

The Cybermen from Pete's World were armed with Cyber wrist blasters that fired red bolts of energy. They also used energy blasters originally used by the Preachers, modified to disrupt Dalek shields. (TV: Army of Ghosts/Doomsday) Some of the Cybermen of the Cyber Legions used similar-looking guns. (TV: A Good Man Goes to War, Ascension of the Cybermen)

Later Cybermen that appeared in the Cyber-Wars, including Ashad, (TV: The Haunting of Villa Diodati) used wrist blasters that fired blue energy. (TV: Nightmare in Silver) Similar wrist blasters were used by the "warrior class" Cybermen. (TV: Ascension of the Cybermen)
