Laurel was a colonist on an ocean planet. She liked to commune with something in the ocean. She went missing shortly before the Third Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith arrived on the commune. She used the poisonous waters in her work. She wanted to paint with a banned substance. She mysteriously returned by the Doctor and Sarah thought that there was something odd about her. She was able to psychically manipulate people to give the people who possessed her people's pain. She did this to Jesko. She told the Doctor that the creature was called the Gulf. (AUDIO: The Gulf)
