The Story of the Film was a prose adaptation of the 1965 film Dr. Who and the Daleks starring Peter Cushing. Printed in TV Century 21 and spanning just a single page, it was the closest to a novelisation the film ever received, though it later became the basis for a comic story from Dell Publishing.

Deviations from theatrical film

  • TARDIS is referred to as "the Tardis" throughout.
  • Owing to its short length, much of the detail present in the original film is cut.
  • Temmosus is not mentioned at all and there are no noted casualties of the Dalek ambush.
  • Ganatus and Antodus are not named and only referred to collectively as "two Thals" accompanying Ian and Barbara into the Dalek City. Elyon, who died on the journey in the original film, is not mentioned.
  • The story ends with the defeat of the Daleks instead of on a cliffhanger leading into another adventure.
