DC Multiverse
The DC Multiverse is a multiverse consisting of the vast majority of works published by DC Comics, beginning in February 1935 with New Fun Comics issue #1. It is comparable to the Marvel Multiverse, published by rival publishers Marvel Comics.
Typically, the publications took place in the then-current "main" universe, with series such as Batman and Superman taking place in a single shared universe; the main universe has changed on various occasions through reboots of the series.
Crossovers
The DC Multiverse has had several crossovers with the Doctor Who universe.
The earliest of these crossovers occurred in the 60-page massive crossover comic The Totally Stonking, Surprisingly Educational And Utterly Mindboggling Comic Relief Comic, which featured several incarnations of the Doctor and their companions, before later featuring Superman and Batman donating to Comic Relief, with Batman dropping off a large donation from the Wayne Foundation.
The main crossover between the multiverse and the DWU, which many of its other crossovers are promotion for, is the video game LEGO Dimensions [+]Loading...["LEGO Dimensions (video game)"]. The game allows the player to scan in various characters from different franchises to play as, including characters such as both the Twelfth Doctor and Batman. Batman, in particular, is actually one of the three main protagonists in the game, with the character having several interactions with the Doctor, and various other elements from the Doctor Who series, such as the Dalek Emperor.
Through this game, naturally, it is possible for Doctor Who characters to use vehicle and objects from the DC Multiverse, and explore its adventure worlds, and vice versa.
Shortly before the game's release, a promotional video was released entitled Endless Awesome [+]Loading...["Endless Awesome (webcast)"]. This video featured characters such as the Twelfth Doctor appearing alongside the likes of Batman and (through gameplay footage) Aquaman.
Later, after the game's release, various other promo videos were also released, containing original animations depicting both franchises as coexisting. First, the webcast Doctor, Doctor, Doctor [+]Loading...["Doctor, Doctor, Doctor (webcast)"] primarily featured three doctors facing off: the Twelfth Doctor, Peter Venkman (Ghostbusters), and Doc Brown (Back to the Future). In addition to these characters, Batman can be seen nearby, the Joker laughs as the vehicles crash, and Harley Quinn remarks "Somebody oughta call a Doctor!".
Next and finally, the video New Adventures Await! [+]Loading...["New Adventures Await! (webcast)"], mainly promoting the upcoming additions to the game such as Adventure Time and Sonic the Hedgehog, featured as its main characters the same trio from LEGO Dimensions [+]Loading...["LEGO Dimensions (video game)"]: Batman, Gandalf (The Lord of the Rings), and Wyldstyle (The LEGO Movie), as well as featuring the Twelfth Doctor and the TARDIS.
The theatrical film The LEGO Batman Movie features the licensed use[1][2] of the Daleks among the various villains from the Phantom Zone.
