IndexThe Panopticon → Should we stop using Fandom?
Spoilers are strongly policed here.
If this thread's title doesn't specify it's spoilery, don't bring any up.

A few days ago, a video was released on YouTube called "Stop Using Fandom" and has since gained over a million views. It can be watched here: [Link Redacted]. Personally, I think the video raises some interesting questions and has me wondering whether Fandom is truly the best place for this wiki. The video does include a list of other wikis that have left Fandom. But is our wiki simply too large to be recreated elsewhere? I really would like to hear other people's perspectives on this. Discussion

This makes sense, but would probably need a bigger thread. Aquanafrahudy 📢 🖊️ 16:33, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

Link redacted as per Tardis:Video policy, I'm afraid. And I'm not sure this thread is a good idea. A matter as weighty as this should not be undertaken lightly after watching a video… If we're to put a proposal of this magnitude and severity up before the community I think it should be by someone with a thought-through rationale and proposal, we'd need a proper multi-part OPs weighing pros and cons with a clear plan for the future, etc. If people have been pondering alternatives for if we were forced to move off Fandom, let those people present their plans when they're ready. In the meantime such possibilities are best discussed off-Wiki.
I guess there's no hard policy against letting this thread stand, but I would personally rather it were archived-without-prejudice for now if BastianBalthazarBux is willing to sign off on doing so. As I said, I would be happy to discuss the matter with him on Discord or other such platforms. But it'd be a huge and contentious step and I don't think having a "casual" thread like this is going to help anything. Scrooge MacDuck 16:39, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
