The Monsters of Doctor Who
The Monsters of Doctor Who was one of the original features of Doctor Who Magazine from its inception in 1979. It was a series of non-fiction articles written by Gordon Blows and B. Aldrich.[1]
Each instalment of the series focused on a particular monster or villain from Doctor Who and presented the in-universe history of its subject as well as occasionally providing behind-the-scenes details about their creation or appearances in the programme. The feature ranged from two to three pages in length and the text was always accompanied by multiple black-and-white photographs.
Every one of the first twelve issues of Doctor Who Magazine featured an instalment of The Monsters of Doctor Who, with the exception of DWM 8 in which it was replaced by an article by Richard Hollis on the Peter Cushing films. Beginning with DWM 13, the publication's articles began to approach a broader range of topics, with DWM 18 containing the final one which could be considered part of the original series.
