The Ninth Doctor mentioned "HAL" alongside Alexa as an AI assistant which had been used at a point in human history. (AUDIO: Break the Ice ^[+]Loading...["Break the Ice (audio story)"])

Behind the scenes

• In Dream-Eaters ^[+]Loading...["Dream-Eaters (TV story)"]), Darius Pike experiences a nightmare in which he asks Mariah to let him out, to which the car responds "I'm sorry, Darius, but I can't do that." in a similar fashion to HAL 9000's iconic line "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that."
• HAL 9000 appears in an easter egg in LEGO Dimensions ^[+]Loading...["LEGO Dimensions (video game)"].
