The SS Madame de Pompadour was a starship built in the 51st century.

Features

The SS Madame de Pompadour had a crew of 50 and a similar number of repair droids which were designed to repair the ship at any cost to themselves or the crew. The vessel was named in honour of Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, otherwise known as Madame de Pompadour, an historical figure from 18th century France. (DW: The Girl in the Fireplace)

The SS Madame de Pompadour was powered by dark matter, which was scooped up by the two rotating arms and delivered to the central hub. These arms also had artificial gravity field and negative magma field for propulsion. It also had a backup sigmus-style warp engines, which was powerful enough to punch a hole in space, creating a wormhole through time. (REF: Doctor Who: The Visual Dictionary (2010)) The ship was known to contain smoking pods where the crew could smoke. (DW: The Girl in the Fireplace)

History

When the SS Madame de Pompadour was 37 years old, the ship was damaged by an ion storm in the Dagmar Cluster. The Repair Robots immediately attacked the crew in order to use human body parts to repair the spacecraft. They modified the ship's warp engines to rip a hole through time to 18th century France so as to take the brain of the original Madame de Pompadour, for they believed that only it could serve as the new onboard computer. They were eventually stopped by the Doctor, who was able to shut them down by breaking the only time window, trapping them in the past and leaving them with no purpose.
