Peri Brown holds the Doctor's comparator. (DW: Planet of Fire)

A comparator was an essential component in a TARDIS. Peri Brown took the comparator from the Doctor's TARDIS and kept it in order to prevent the Master from taking it and hence, gaining control of the TARDIS. (DW: Planet of Fire)
