Wassy

Wassy was a village in France, about 200 kilometres east of Paris. On 1st March 1562, some 25 Huguenots were killed at the town's Reform Church by the Catholic Duke Francois de Guise. The act sparked the French Religious Wars. (DW: The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve; DWN: The Massacre)
